Talk to an Expert →ITR-U is an Updated Return under Section 139(8A). You can file it to report income you missed or to correct an earlier return — even if you never filed for that year — subject to eligibility conditions.
Up to 48 months from the end of the relevant assessment year, per the Finance Act 2025. The additional tax rises the later you file — your expert confirms the current window for your year.
Additional tax over the normal tax + interest: 25% if filed within 12 months of the AY end, 50% within 24 months, 60% within 36 months, and 70% within 48 months.
No. ITR-U cannot be used to claim a refund, increase a refund, reduce tax liability, or report / increase a loss. Those cases are excluded.
PAN, Aadhaar, the AIS / 26AS for that year, any original ITR filed, income proofs (Form 16 etc.), and challans for taxes already paid. We help you assemble these.
If your case falls outside Section 139(8A) — for example it's already under assessment — we tell you upfront and move you to the right option or refund the plan.
We check eligibility first, compute the additional tax, and file your ITR-U — no guesswork.
